Abstract

["Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView. ", "\nABSTRACT\nThe objective of this review is to analyse the treatment of gender within business scholarship on modern slavery and to propose a framework that supports more gender‐sensitive corporate responses. Modern slavery risk is an escalating concern for business, with the United Nations calling for its eradication by 2030. Gendered dimensions of this risk have only recently gained attention, making it timely to review how scholars have approached the intersection of gender, modern slavery and corporate social responsibility. Drawing on an integrative literature review and thematic analysis of relevant publications in five online databases, this review identifies three themes shaping gendered modern slavery risks: socio‐economic and cultural contexts; political, legal and corporate accountability settings; and the influence of globalisation on exploitation within supply chains. Analysis reveals the absence of comprehensive frameworks to organise this emerging field in corporate social responsibility. In response, the study proposes a gender‐sensitive business framework that highlights persistent gender‐blindness in academic research and offers theoretical directions and future corporate social responsibility for addressing gendered modern slavery risks in business.\n"]
